Favourite local bar?
I like traditional atmospheres – and by that I mean authentic bars with nothing in particular to notice. My own particular favourite is one near Odéon called Le Carrefour, owned by two grandmothers who are really rude with people. Don’t keep your phone on the table or they will get angry at you. A true gem of the past.
Favourite local café/restaurant?
I like all the cafés where they roast their own beans – like Terre de Café near Beaubourg or Brulerie Daval in Cour Damoye. Good people are where good coffee is. Concerning restaurants, it’s difficult to say. In the same way as the bars, I like those where the tradition is – where the time has almost no impact. On the French side, it’s always a pleasure to drink red wine and eat a tête-de-veau at Chartier. For an Asiatic style, I’m in love with this little cantine near Charonne called Chez Nanchang – or having phó and loc-lac from the most hidden Vietnamese restaurant, [email protected]@m, two steps away from Tang Frères in the 13th.
Cheap beer in Faubourg-Saint-Denis.
Eating street food after clubbing, because at this moment you know that you will not have any lunch.
The best thing about your quartier?
I’m living in Montreuil and I find there the neighborhood life I always looked for. I especially like it in the morning, with the morning light, when everybody is going down the streets to the Métro – from office workers to children riding a scooter with their parents running after them. People know why they live in this area and they seem to really enjoy it here.
