The François-Truffaut cinema library in the Forum des Halles, is part of the architectural project “avenue du Cinéma” which also includes the redesigned Forum des Images cinema.
The centre is part of the network of Paris’s amazing free municipal libraries: open to the public and offering free admission and a lending service for documents. Even if you just come here for a week you can access the library for free (did I mention that?).
Access to Paris’ specialized librairies is available to everyone. To enrol is pretty simple (for once). For a library card you must just provide identification (a passport or whatnot…)
The collections include magazines, DVDs, and CDs of music and film, photo albums, scenarios, and many French or foreign works on the most diverse subjects : film makers, actors, films, film making, producers, but also technical and legal aspects, professions, theory and the history of cinema. The surface area of 600 m2 with multimedia posts, a projection room and finally the François-Truffaut library and the Forum des Images will work together to offer joint events for the pleasure of cinema buffs.
