The best part of moving to a new neighbourhood is discovering the local haunts. The kind of places that might not necessarily be the first port of call for visitors to the city, but which are the backbone of the local community – just as good for a quiet weeknight drink or a more lavish weekend night out. This is that kind of place. The name says it all – Comestibles keeps things simple, yet effective. Good quality products, reasonable prices, and friendly staff who are happy to provide blankets on those chilly nights or let locals stay on past closing time.

On the menu you’ll find the go-to classic cheese and charcuterie, as well as seasonal specials like deluxe croque monsieurs (truffle ham, truffle butter and truffle pecorino for example!) and tartines for when you feel like splashing out. In other words, beyond just food and wine, it has all the right ingredients for a great local. PS – try the baked Mont d’Or – you won’t regret it.
