Le Georges V is a fabulous art déco landmark hotel dating from 1928, just off the Champs Elysées. This meeting place for business or perhaps pleasure is the favoured spot of well-heeled Parisiennes. Step in from the cold and treat yourself to some of the beautiful teas inspired by les fêtes; Thé Christmas – Parfait accord de thé noir de chine, Caramel, Marasquin et Amande. For a real winter warmer you could quaff a “Grog” (Rhum Blanc, Jus de citron, sucre de canne, clou de girofle) in the cosy bar.
If it’s the cuisine you’re after, Le Cinq restaurant (2 etoiles), a beautiful dining room – style Louis XIV & Louis XV1 – with an intimate atmosphere and only 70 places, is exquisite – but do book well in advance. Philippe Legendre is at the helm – one of his signature dishes is La crème de cresson au caviar.
A room at the hotel will set you back about 760 euros a night with a suite around 11,000 euros but if a little luxury will suffice, pop to take afternoon tea in the Galerie and admire the 18th century wall hangings or get snug in the bar with a real log fireplace.
