Perhaps it’s not technically a market, but the pedestrian thoroughfare near Villiers metro situated amongst the subdued chic of the 17th arrondissement definitely has a village feel. Weave amongst young families, nannies and the odd well-established expat and peruse the goods displayed on the street. Besides the usual suspects of cheese shops, bakeries, wine shops and butchers, there are a couple of good quality greengrocers selling produce sourced from France, and a selection of high end speciality shops: Spanish charcuterie, artisanal cookies, Provençal olive oil and luxury chocolates can all be picked up en route. Being car-free you feel more able to take your time to browse and soak up the communal atmosphere that characterises the quartiers around Batignolles.
