When they started thinking about buying a property in Paris, Betty Hsu an Peter Chang were referred to VINGT Paris by a London based contact. They recently bought a property with us in the heart of the beautiful 7th arrondissement of Paris.

The search begins

Born in Taiwan, but currently based in L.A., Betty Hsu and Peter Chang were referred to us by their team in London. They immediately fell in love with Paris. After the initial meeting, we worked with them over several Zooms to define their property criteria, and arrange structuring of the property purchase vehicle and began the search for their perfect fit which would also be a property that would be rentable within our prestige property lettings portfolio.

Susie expertly guided them through the process of buying a property in France’s capital, with no expense or effort spared. The couple assessed over 70 different properties and visited many by Zoom across five weeks. Eventually, the two settled on their apartment – drawn to its original wooden features, and bright, open spaces. Their chic apartment offers incredible views all over the city while providing a quiet oasis in the bustling centre of Paris.

A design takes shape

From the beginning, the couple knew they wanted to renovate to make the most of their apartment’s distinctive features. Susie worked closely with Betty’s design team, travelling to London to meet them and discuss plans. Susie introduced them to an expert team of renovators and surveyors to guide them through the processes of interior design and planning permission.

Navigating the nitty gritty

With a plan in place and a property they love, they were ready to buy their dream home. So we set them up with our best finance team, and made sure all their financing ran smoothly during the signing process. We then helped them find a structure to hold property based on tax and estate planning.

Navigating the world of paperwork and bureaucracy, especially in France, can be complicated, and sometimes overwhelming.

Fortunately, we have a team of specialists to help for every step of the way. So, as Betty and Peter got ready to sign, we appointed and managed their notaire and checked over every last detail until the deal was closed.

Now the next step for this couple is also the most exciting! After receiving their settle-in pack to take care of utilities and other administration details over the next year from VINGT Paris, the couple have begun the renovation of their beautiful Parisian home!
