In the garden bar

Sometimes it’s nice to escape the hectic pace of life in La Capitale and go, like the famous theme song says, somewhere where everybody knows your name. I can’t vouch that people will know your name the first time you go to pint-sized rock ‘n’ roll bar In the Garden, but if you stick around long enough I’m sure they will. In the Garden is a special place that offers a lot of things uncommon in Paris: an excellent beer selection, both on tap and bottled; live music most Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights; and free food. Yes, you read correctly, each Thursday night chilli con carne (vegetarian) is served on the house! Every other night, a selection of croques, cheese and charcuterie is available for not-quite-free but still-very-reasonable prices. Jerome and Misko are your cheerful hosts, and when there’s no live acts you’ll find an eclectic mix of rock, blues and reggae being played. With a regular rotation of local artists works on the walls and a host of colourful local characters propping up the bar, there is no reason not to become a regular.
